Copyright Infringement -
Copyrights protect creative works, such as books, music, software, and
the like. In the case of copyrights, infringement happens when someone
"rips off" another's work. According to the US Copyright office: "As a general matter, copyright infringement occurs
when a copyrighted work is reproduced, distributed, performed, publicly
displayed, or made into a derivative work without the permission of the
copyright owner."
